Optimism vs Realism

Normally i consider myself an optimist. In the game of alpine skiing anything can happen and thus i am not happy about having to watch the second run in Levi from my hotelroom. However, sometimes one needs to be a realist too. Realisticly, finishing 34 isn’t surprising. I have not been training much slalom, well, in the past two years and consequently any result below top30 would have been a bonus.
However, i still want to become a slalomracer and now that my knee is feeling better i will be able to train more and hopefully ski faster in the future races.. So, being a realist for the moment i am not feeling that bad. it’s been some time since i didn’t make it to a second run and hopefully it won’t happen again..so today realism wins vs optimism..unfortunately! Leif Kristian Haugen is in 23rd after first run, with startnumber 55! Well done! crossing my fingers for him!! Go Leif!
